Newly discovered substances, called Sphingadienes, which were discovered in soybean was found to help in preventing cancer.
By this time it was considered that cancer protective role of soybean lies in the fact that if we eat soy instead of meat products, known as significant colon cancer risk factor, we diminish the risk. But now it is clear that natural fats from soybean are by themselves of preventive value when it is the case of colon cancer prevention. Sphingadienes are natural lipid molecules which destroys mutant cells. The research which discovered this was conducted at Cancer Centre, Research institute of Children Hospital in Oakland, Australia. As researchers state, this discovery is of double significance. First, it shows that by consuming soy products we take colon cancer preventive substances into our bodies, and second, this finding opens the possibility of extracting these substances and use them to make cancer remedy, which can be used even if the disease is already developed.
